Zoho Corp: Global IT company Zoho Corporation's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sridhar Vembu has resigned from his post as Chief Scientist to focus on the company's research and development initiatives. Company co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davy will take over as Group CEO.
Global IT company Zoho Corporation's CEO, Sridhar Vembu, has stepped down as the company's Chief Scientist to work full-time on the company's research and development. The position will be taken up by company co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davy as the Group CEO.
"Given the various challenges and opportunities that we face, including recent major developments in artificial intelligence, it has been decided that it would be better for me to focus my full time on R&D initiatives, as well as my personal rural development mission.
"I will step down as CEO of Zoho Corp and take up a new role as Chief Scientist, responsible for leading intensive R&D initiatives," Vembu said in a post on micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
Though Vembu began his note with "A new chapter begins today", the exact timeline of the transition was not made clear. He wrote that co-founder Tony Thomas will lead Zoho US, Rajesh Ganesan will lead Zoho Corp's ManageEngine division, and Mani Vembu will lead the Zoho.com division.
"The future of our company depends entirely on how well we meet the R&D challenges and I look forward to taking on my new responsibility with energy," he added. And I'm looking forward to continuing with the same passion. I'm also excited to get back to technical work." Chennai-headquartered Zoho Corp was founded in 1996, initially known as AdventNet Inc.
