Youth are getting disillusioned with core engineering, AICTE has started a new scholarship scheme to increase the trend

In view of the decreasing trend of youth towards core engineering i.e. civil, electrical, electronics, mechanical, and chemical engineering in the face of new branches of engineering like computer science, AI, robotics, and machine learning, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has taken an important initiative.

It will now provide scholarships to students studying core engineering. In this regard, the AICTE has launched a new scholarship scheme known as Yashasvi (Young Achievers Scholarship and Holistic Academic Skills Venture Initiative).

Professor TG Sitaram, Chairman of AICTE, launched the new scholarship scheme on Friday, stating that it will lead to progress in the country's manufacturing industry. In any case, core engineering is critical to the sector's growth. This initiative will attract more talented youth to the field of core engineering.

Professor Sitaram said that the main objective of this initiative is to encourage students to take admission in courses related to core engineering. Council Vice-Chairman Dr Abhay Jere and Member Secretary Rajiv Kumar were also present on this occasion.

Under this scheme, this scholarship will be given every year to five thousand students studying core engineering. In this, half of the students will be studying degree, and half of the students studying diploma. At the same time, degree students will get 18 thousand rupees per year for a maximum of four years, while diploma students will be given 12 thousand rupees per year for a maximum of three years. The scholarship will be sent directly to the student's accounts through DBT.

Students will be selected for scholarships on the basis of merit. During this time, the 12th qualification of the students will be considered as the basis for selection for degree level, while for diploma level, the 10th qualification of the students will be considered as the basis for selection.

To renew the scholarship every year, the students will have to submit their passing certificate or mark sheet along with a letter from their institute head. Applications for scholarships will be invited once a year. Online applications are taken from eligible candidates.
