Yoga classes will now be held in every university in Saudi Arabia. A special syllabus has also been prepared for this. The Saudi government had already formed a committee for this. This committee is already very active, but now its scope is being expanded.
The Saudi government said a few months ago that yoga can improve the balance of mind and body and hence it will be included in the syllabus of schools and universities.
Saudi Arabia's website 'The National' quoted Nouf Al Merwai, president of the Saudi Yoga Committee, as saying that yoga classes will now be held in all the universities of the country. According to Nouf, an agreement has been signed with the Saudi Yoga Committee and the Saudi Sports Federation and the Ministry of Education in this regard. Its aim is to connect all universities with Yoga in future.
Nauf further said – We have signed some MoUs. In these, there is mention of yoga training, practice, competitions and social activities. The research will also start regarding this with the help of experts. A special training session has been organized for this at Riyadh University.
Nouf said- I am thankful to the Sports Ministry of the Saudi Government that they gave us approval and support for everything so fast. Now we will be able to get better practitioners of Yoga. The cooperation received from the leadership in forming the Yoga Committee is excellent. I have been doing yoga for 10 years. I have been teaching people for five years. Be it male or female, it has become very popular among all.
The President of the Yoga Committee further said- A few days back I met Lamish Lohan, Chief of the Asian Yoga Federation. He said- Saudi Arabia is the only country in the entire Gulf, which has done such tremendous work on Yoga. 112 practitioners took part in the Yoga Championship we conducted recently. Of these, 95 were girls. Most were between 15 and 25 years of age.
