The KYB front fork has also been updated. The suspension is fully adjustable. At the same time, R1M continues to use high-spec Ohlin suspension.

The Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M are powered by a 998cc inline-four engine with a cross plane crankshaft. The engine produces 200 horsepower and 113 Nm of peak torque. The engine is coupled with a six-speed gearbox.
