World Chess Champion Ding Liren claims he'll give his best and is fully confident to defeat Gukesh
World Chess Championship: The World Chess Championship will be played in Singapore from 20 November to 15 December. During this, 14 games will be played between Gukesh and Liren and the winner will get a prize money of about Rs 21 crore.
World Champion Chinese Grandmaster Ding Liren is very excited about the World Chess Championship that will be starting on 20 November in Singapore. He said that he wants to give his best against India's D Gukesh in the championship. However, Liren became the world champion by defeating Ian Nepomniachtchi in April last year and he is currently not in his best form. Recently he had to take a long break from chess as he was also struggling with poor mental health.
Liren said in an interview to FIDE, life is going on normally now. I still stay at home. Nothing has really changed. My chess career may not have been so good in the last one and a half years, but I believe that a turning point will come soon. I will give my best in this World Championship. It is worth noting that 14 games will be played between Gukesh and Liren in the World Championship.
This team to take on Liren is composed of many grandmasters, including veteran Hikaru Nakamura and former champion Magnus Carlsen, all of whom have thrown their weight behind Gukesh, maintaining that he has what it takes to defeat Liren. This April, the winner of the FIDE Candidates Tournament was Gukesh, who qualified for the World Championship.
