World Bank President Ajay Banga today said that India is doing several things which are helping it stay ahead of the world even in times of global recession. Ajay Banga is on his first visit to India after taking over as the President of the World Bank.
Talking to the media, Banga said that India has come out stronger from the challenges posed by the pandemic, and the country needs to maintain the same momentum.
India's GDP is also one of those many things said by Ajay Banga. India is currently the fifth largest economy in the world, apart from this it is also the country with the fastest-growing economy.
Banga said that if there is a global recession, one thing that is growing in India is that a very high percentage of its GDP (Gross Domestic Product) comes from domestic consumption. Your exposure to the specific effects of a global recession caused by slower business is reduced by the relatively high percentage of the economy coming from domestic consumption.
When the media asked Ajay Banga about India's possible growth in high-income jobs, he said that such jobs are in the field of technology which is less in the country. Banga said that apart from technology, such jobs are in the manufacturing sector.
This opportunity won't be open for 10 years, it's the three to five-year opportunity when supply chains start to shift or add another location where work is needed.
