Winter session of Parliament from December 7: Will run till December 29, there will be 17 meetings in 23 days
The winter session of Parliament will begin on December 7 and will continue till December 29. This information was tweeted by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi on Friday. He said that the upcoming winter session would be of 23 days in which there would be 17 sittings. Legislative work and other issues can be discussed during the session between Amrit Kaal.
Notably, this will be the first session, according to media reports, during which Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, will preside over proceedings in the House. The session will begin at a time when there will be an election wave in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
According to the news agency ANI, while the government is planning to pass several bills during the upcoming session of Parliament, the opposition may demand discussion on urgent matters. On the first day of the session, members are likely to pay respects to the departed members. In view of the demise of the sitting members, the first day of the upcoming session is likely to be adjourned.
Samajwadi Party's patron Mulayam Singh Yadav is also included among the MPs who have passed away recently.
In view of the Corona situation and because most of the members and staff of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Secretariats have been vaccinated, the session is likely to be held without any restrictions.
However, in the last two years, the Parliament session was affected due to Covid.
Jairam Ramesh has said that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will not be able to attend the winter session of this Parliament as he will be busy with Bharat Jodo Yatra at that time. The Congress says that Rahul Gandhi does not want to leave the yatra midway and go anywhere. This is the reason why Rahul Gandhi did not go to a rally for the Himachal assembly elections. However, Congress included the names of 40 big leaders including Rahul and Sonia Gandhi in the list of star campaigners.
Talking about the monsoon session, started on July 18 and was adjourned on August 8. There were 16 sessions over a period of 22 days.
