Wimbledon Tennis: Champion Alcaraz's first-round path is very easy

Carlos Alcaraz, Spain's premier player, is looking to retain his championship at Wimbledon, the year's third Grand Slam tennis competition, which begins on July 1. The drawings for this tournament were made on Friday, and Alcaraz was assigned the third seed. In the first round, defending champion Alcaraz will face Estonian player Mark Lazar, who is 21 years old. At the same time, Serbia's seven-time champion Novak Djokovic has been seeded second. He will face Vit Kopriva from the Czech Republic.

World number one player Jannik Sinner of Italy has been given the top seed. Sinner, who reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon last year, will face Germany's Yannick Hoffman in the first round. If Sinner reaches the semi-finals, he may face Carlos Alcaraz.

Czech Republic's Marketa Vodrosova, the defending champion, has been seeded sixth in the women's singles category. She will defend her title. Meanwhile, world number one Iga Swiatek of Poland has been seeded top.
