Wild elephant terror in Sonitpur, Assam, three people including two forest guards crushed to death
Three people, including two forest guards, were killed and another person injured in an attack by a wild elephant in Assam's Sonitpur district on Saturday. West Tezpur divisional forest officer Nipen Kalita said a wild elephant strayed from the nearby Dhekiajuli forest and entered Dhirai Majuli village when forest personnel were patrolling the area.

The deceased have been identified as forest guards Koleshwar Boro and Biren Rawa and the local man has been identified as Jatin Tanti, he said. He said that the injured person Dibakar Malakar has been admitted to the hospital and his condition is said to be critical. He said that efforts are on to push the elephant back into the forest.
