Sachin told, 'We were in Australia and I was the captain of the team. We also had a junior player with us. He was touring overseas for the first time and he got a bit careless. He was paying more attention to the crowd while fielding. Where there was one run, he used to give two runs. I called him and put my hand on him. No one knew what I was saying to that player. I told him that if you do this again, then I will send him home. You will not go to the hotel, you will go back to India.
Sachin said, 'I explained to him that when you play for your country then there should not be any kind of negligence. This is a great honour. There are crores of people who want to be in your place and that is why don't take it lightly. Although Sachin did not tell the name of that player. Young players like Hrishikesh Kanitkar, Vijay Bhardwaj, and MSK Prasad were included in the team on that Australia tour of India.
On that tour, Australia had a clean sweep of 3-0 in the Test series against Team India. The tour took place from 1999–2000. The captain of the Australian team was Steve Waugh.
