When Mithun Chakraborty recalled his struggling days and said 'the industry never remembers the losers'

Mithun Chakraborty is one of the big names in the film industry who has made his mark through hard work. In the 80s, films used to run in the name of Mithun. His popularity was such that there was only one name on the lips of the girls 'Jimmy'. However, he has also struggled a lot to touch this height. He once told me how his journey was not a bed of roses but was full of challenges.
Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty made his acting debut with Mrigayaa (1976), which won him the National Film Award for Best Actor. Some of his blockbuster movies are Disco Dancer, Suraksha, Sahas, Vardaat, Wanted, Boxer, Pyaar Jhukta Nahi, Pyari Bahna, Avinash, Dance Dance, Prem Pratigya, Mujrim, Yugandhar, The Don, Jallad and Agneepath. He was last seen in the Bengali film Prajapati. Today Mithun is celebrating his 73rd birthday.
When Mithun first came to Mumbai, he had no place to stay and no money. Reminiscing his journey, the actor told Man's World India in 2022, “My journey has not been a bed of roses. My journey was about the challenges and the destination. I got here through pain, and struggle, but I fought every day to overcome it. I just want to tell people that if I can do it, you can too."
The actor further added, "The film industry never remembers losers, you can survive only when you are good. I had to struggle to reach where I am." In the interview, he further said, "I didn't come to Mumbai to become an actor. My first day in the city of dreams was confusing as I didn't know where to go and how to go... I took a 45-minute detour down the beach to find Matunga but soon I realized I was in the right I am not going in direction.
“I lived at 75 in the Sunny Side building and had to sleep on the floor. I ate on the streets and became a member of the Matunga Gymkhana because I could shower there. It hasn't been easy, but I don't complain. Everyone calls me a veteran superstar, what more can I ask for?
