Former Pakistan captain Saeed Ahmed died on Wednesday at the age of 86. Many cricketers including PCB have expressed condolences on his demise. There has been a wave of mourning in the cricket world due to the demise of Saeed Ahmed. Expressing grief over the demise of the former Test captain, PCB said that we express our deepest condolences to the family of Saeed Ahmed. He served Pakistan wholeheartedly and we respect his record and services for the Pakistan Test team.

Across 41 Test matches, Saeed Ahmed played for Pakistan and amassed 2,991 runs with five centuries and sixteen half-centuries. Along with that, he claimed 22 wickets with his right-arm off-spin bowling. Against the West Indies, he made his Test debut in 1958. During the 1972–73 tour, he played his final Test match for Pakistan in Melbourne.

The Pakistan cricket team's sixth Test captain was Saeed Ahmed. He appointed him team captain in 1969 for the national tour of England, replacing Hanif Mohammad. But he led the team for just three Test matches.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his condolences, saying that the PCB is saddened by the demise of the former Test captain and expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Saeed Ahmed. He served Pakistan wholeheartedly and the PCB respects his record and services to the Test team.
