Football's all-time great Pele is in critical condition. The great Brazilian footballer is currently battling death in a Sao Paulo hospital. He has been kept under special observation. His health is continuously deteriorating and it has affected his kidney and heart.
Close friends and family members have started gathering at the hospital to see the 82-year-old veteran footballer battling cancer. His family celebrated Christmas on Sunday in the hospital itself. On Sunday morning, their daughter Kelly Nascimento posted a family photo to Insta. In his Insta post 3 hours ago, Nascimento wrote- 'Gratitude, love, togetherness of family... this is the essence of Christmas. Thank you for so much love you sent on Christmas...gratitude and love. I would be nothing without him (Pele) in this fun and wonderful life. Merry Christmas, today and always.'
At the same time, son Edinho wrote in an emotional post on Instagram- 'Papa... You are my strength.' Pele's son Edson Cholbi arrived at Nascimento Hospital on Saturday. He is known as Edinho. Pele's daughter Kelly Nascimento is also in the hospital.
Pele was admitted to the hospital for a routine checkup, but gradually his condition started deteriorating. They haven't come out yet. Pele had heart problems. His medical staff expressed concern, as his chemotherapy treatment was not responding well. His colon tumour was removed in September 2021. After that he had chemotherapy. Pele had been hospitalized several times before.
Pele made his country Brazil three times world champion. Brazil won the World Cup in 1958, 1962 and 1970 under him. Scored two goals in the 1958 World Cup final against Sudan. Pele played a total of 1363 matches in his professional career and scored 1281 goals. He scored 77 goals in 91 matches for Brazil.
