An American military aircraft has crashed in Australia during a military exercise. The accident happened near Darwin, Australia's Northern Territory and there were 23 US Marines on board.

According to a CNN report, a spokesperson for the Australian Department of Defense said that the incident happened during Exercise Predators Run 2023 on Melville Island on Sunday morning. 3 soldiers have died in the accident. The officer said that at this time our focus is on ensuring the safety of the rest of the soldiers on board.

Several people have so far been rescued after a plane crashed during an exercise near the Tiwi Islands, north of Darwin, according to the ABC.

"A total of 23 personnel were on board the ship. Three have been confirmed dead, while five others have been taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital in critical condition," a US Marine official said in a statement.

Explain that after the crash of the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, five of the 23 aboard the aircraft were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The official statement said that the cause of the accident is being investigated.

Northern Territory Chief Minister Natasha Files told a joint press conference with Murphy that one of the injured was undergoing surgery at the Royal Darwin Hospital.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said a Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft crashed during military exercises. He said that the US, Australia, Indonesia, Philippines, and East Timor forces were involved in this exercise.
