Unveiled Hindi Teaser of Period Crime-Drama MATKA starring Varun Tej, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Nora Fatehi

An anticipated Hindi teaser for MATKA, an upcoming period crime-action drama is out, leaving cinema enthusiasts across India excited. Nora Fatehi makes her Telugu debut alongside South superstar Varun Tej, Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead. Set against the backdrop of the notorious ‘Matka’ gambling empire, which played a pivotal role in India’s socio-economic landscape during the late 1970s and early 1980s, MATKA promises to deliver a gripping narrative.

Produced by Dr. Vijender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Talluri under the banners of Vyra Entertainments and SRT Entertainments, and presented by WAMINDIA in association with Wide Angle Media, MATKA is directed by Karuna Kumar. It is a straight forward tale told against the backdrop of Visakhapatnam that starts from 1958- 1982 about a man going from humble beginnings to becoming a mastermind of a national gambling syndicate and the film covers the span of years. Vasu’s rising power leads him eventually to an inevitable clash with the Indian government, and a big question of morality, ambition and authority.

The 1 minute 51 seconds teaser provides a sneak peek into the action-packed world of MATKA, blending grandeur with intense drama. Varun Tej’s portrayal of Vasu introduces audiences to a dynamic anti-hero whose journey blurs the lines between right and wrong. Nora Fatehi lights up the screen in a glamorous musical number, adding to the film's visual spectacle. One of the teaser’s standout moments is the dialogue, “Dharam kya hai... Humey jiski zarurat hai wahi dharam hai. Jab tak insaan ki ichcha nahi maregi, mera dhandha bhi nahi marega," which highlights the protagonist’s complex philosophy. Another striking line, "Iss duniya mein chalne wale ek rupaiya mein nabbe paise sau logon mein ek aadmi hi kama pata hai baaki dus paise ke liye ninyanwe log ladte rehte hain... mere jaise nabbe paise kamane wale tum ek ho, unn ninyanwe log mein sey tum ek banke mat reh jana... kyonki tum mein woh dum hai," underscores his calculated approach to success and power.

Set for a theatrical release on November 14, 2024, MATKA will be released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. With its unique combination of high-octane action, deep emotion, and captivating storytelling, the film is expected to draw audiences across the country. The cast includes Varun Tej as Vasu, Meenakshi Chaudhary as Sujatha, and Nora Fatehi as Sofiya, with the stars embarking on a nationwide promotional tour ahead of the release.

Directed by Karuna Kumar with screenplay and dialogues also penned by him, and featuring music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, MATKA promises to offer a truly immersive cinematic experience. The Hindi theatrical distribution will be managed by Jai Viratra Entertainment Limited.
