Union Budget 2023: Nirmala Sitharaman meets with officials prior to the budget presentation

Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, will release the Union Budget 2023 today. The budget for this year is significant since it will be the last complete budget before the general elections of 2024. Since 2019, the Finance Minister has presented the budget five times.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has increased capital spending, including on roads and energy, since taking office in 2014. He has also attracted investors with lower tax rates, labour reforms, and subsidies for the poor.

On Tuesday, Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Economic Survey for the current budget year. According to the report, India's economy has fully recovered from the Covid epidemic, and in the upcoming fiscal year 2023–2024, growth is anticipated to range between 6% and 6.8%. This contrasts with 7.0% for the current fiscal year and 8.7% for 2021–22.
