On Wednesday, two children died after falling into an agricultural pond that was built in a field in the village of Kishorepura in Ajitgarh. On receiving the information, Naib Tehsildar Jhundaram, Ajitgarh CO Umesh Gupta, Police Station Incharge Mukesh Sepat along with the squad reached the spot. With the help of the villagers, both the children were taken out and admitted to Ajitgarh Sub-District Hospital, where the doctors declared both of them dead. The accident caused a wave of mourning in the area. There was chaos in the family. The police handed over the bodies to the relatives after post-mortem.

Naib Tehsildar Jhundaram said that an agricultural pond is built in the field of Jairam Jat in Dhani Karelwali of village Kishorepura in Ajitgarh. Vikas (14) son of Jairam and his friend Prakash (13) son of Shyamlal Yadav, resident of Bhanipura Raipur Jagir, were playing near the pond. Suddenly Vikas slipped and fell into the pond. To save him, his friend Prakash also jumped into it. The pond, which was about 15 feet deep, was filled with water up to 10 feet.

When the family members did not see the children, they raised an alarm and people from the nearby areas reached the spot. The villagers tried to take the children out of the pond but were unsuccessful. After this, the police and administration were informed. On receiving the information, Naib Tehsildar Jhundaram, Ajitgarh CO Umesh Gupta, police station in-charge Mukesh Sepat along with the police force reached the spot. With the help of the villagers, both were pulled out. Immediately, both were taken to Ajitgarh Sub-District Hospital. Here, the doctors declared both dead.

Family members were not in a condition to say anything after this accident. Villagers informed that both the families are indulged in farming and labor work. Prakash's family also does farming in Kishorpura. Both the children were close friends and lived together. Mourning spread in the village after the incident. The Naib Tehsildar said that the family members of the deceased children will be provided financial assistance as per the rules of the state government.
