Twitter in loss, kitchen items auctioned: New owner Musk unable to pay rent for Twitter offices
Twitter, the world's second richest man Elon Musk's company, is running arrears on the rent of its San Francisco head office. The company has also not paid the rent of other offices around the world. The owners of the property have not received rent since the takeover of Twitter by Musk. The building owners are asking Twitter to vacate the property, but there is no response from the company. In some cases, landlords are simply asking Twitter to vacate the property as per the lease agreement. They are not even demanding the outstanding rent from Twitter.
Another property owner says that Twitter has fired seven and a half thousand employees. Now there is no need for a big office. Kitchen space has been eliminated in many offices. The company is auctioning kitchen items. The company believes that there is no need for a kitchen after the reduction in staff.
Experts believe that Musk's non-payment of rent is the model of former US President Donald Trump. Trump rented properties in many places in the US but did not pay the rent for most of them. On the other hand, an employee fired from the company says that he was not even given three months' salary according to the law. Some employees are also thinking about the option of filing a court case against Twitter.
Bill Reynolds, who has given his property on rent to Twitter in Colorado, told Dainik Bhaskar that another big problem has arisen. All the contact persons on Twitter of the property owners have been removed from the company. In such a situation, he and many people like him are unable to have any contact with Twitter. Twitter is not responding to e-mails about vacating the property.
Since buying Twitter, the financial crisis on Musk is deepening. They have already removed many people from Twitter. At the same time, Musk has been continuously selling shares of his electronic car company Tesla in the last three days. Musk has sold about 22 million (2.2 crores) shares of Tesla in just 3 days, which is worth about $ 3.6 billion, i.e. 29.81 thousand crore rupees.
After the Twitter acquisition of $ 44 billion, Musk said, 'I am selling Tesla shares to save my business.' Tesla shares have fallen more than 60% this year. These were close to $400 at the beginning of the year and have reached close to $150 now.
