On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump said that negotiations with India on tariffs are moving in a good direction. Both countries will reach an agreement soon. Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump also said that he is planning to visit Africa. He said he is also planning to talk to Australian officials.

US Commerce Minister Howard Lutnick said during an interview that the Trump administration has worked on a trade deal with India, but the US is waiting for the approval of the Prime Minister of India and Parliament to announce it. Lutnick said, 'I have made a deal, but now I have to wait for their Prime Minister's and Parliament's approval.'

Earlier this week, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant also confirmed an early trade deal between India and the US. He said that India could be one of the first countries to sign a trade deal with the US, although he did not explain it.

US President Trump had earlier imposed a 26 percent reciprocal tariff on India. Later, relief was given by announcing a 90-day ban on tariffs to discuss trade agreements with several countries. After this, in February, India and the US agreed to start work on the first phase of the trade agreement, aiming to complete it by the end of this year and increase bilateral trade to $ 500 billion by 2030.

Apart from this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met President Trump in the US in February. During this, both leaders agreed to finalize the trade agreement as soon as possible. Apart from this, both leaders also agreed to hold discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing differences on tariffs. However, India has given many concessions in the field of energy and defense spending to attract America. Union Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India will not be pressured for any agreement and the country will put the interests of its people first.
