TRAI's instructions: Prepaid mobile customers will have to give a plan with a validity of 30 days

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has taken a major decision in favour of prepaid mobile customers. TRAI on Monday directed all telecom companies to give the validity of mobile recharge 30 days instead of 28 days.

Along with this, the telecom company will now have to bring a special voucher, a combo voucher with the validity of the whole month in its plan. TRAI had issued these instructions even seven months ago, but the telecom companies did not follow them. Therefore, TRAI has again given these instructions to all the telecom companies.

Explain that the existing plans of telecom companies have a validity of 28 days, due to which customers have to do monthly recharge 13 times in a year. After this decision of TRAI, it is believed that the number of recharges done by the customers in a year will come down. By doing this, customers will save money for one month of extra recharge.

TRAI has issued a notification for telecom companies. According to this notification, all telecom service providers will have to bring at least one plan voucher, one special tariff voucher and one combo voucher with a validity of 30 days. Apart from this, companies have been asked to comply with the order of the rules within 60 days from the date of notification.

In the month of April, TRAI issued instructions to companies in this regard that they will have to bring at least one such tariff in the plan voucher and plan voucher renewal category, whose validity will be 30 days.

TRAI was constantly receiving complaints from customers regarding the existing plans of telecom companies. Customers alleged that the tariff of existing telecom companies is increasing continuously, but the validity is decreasing. In such a situation, every year they have to do extra recharge. If the validity is extended by 2 days then they will get relief.

There are two categories of mobile tariffs. The first category is based on the validity period. The second category is based on renewal on the same date. It is also called one month plan. Complete information has been shared by TRAI about the plans of telecom service providers with a validity of 30 days regarding different categories.

Airtel's plan with a validity of 30 days is Rs 128, while the plan for renewal next month on the same date has a tariff of Rs 131. Reliance Jio's plan with a validity of 30 days is Rs 296, while the plan for renewal on the same date next month has a tariff of Rs 259.

On the other hand, Vodafone-Idea's plan with 30 days validity is Rs 137, while the plan to be renewed on the same date next month is Rs 141. Apart from this, the 30 days plan of BSNL is Rs 199, while the one-month validity plan is Rs 229. The 30-day plan of MTNL is Rs 151, while the plan with the same date renewal for one month i.e. next month is Rs 97.

TRAI has said in its statement that the number of mobile customers has increased to 119 crores by the end of November 2021 last year. During this period, there has been a significant increase in the number of customers of Reliance Jio and Airtel. According to a report, in October last year, Reliance Jio added 17.6 lakh customers, after which its total number of customers was close to 42.65 million.

At the same time, there was a decrease of 4.89 lakh in Airtel's customers, after which its total number of customers reached 35.39. Whereas, after the reduction of 9.64 lakh subscribers of Vodafone-Idea, its total subscriber base has increased to 26.90 million.
