Train Firing: RPF constable Chetan Singh Chowdhary, who shot dead his senior and three passengers in a moving train last month, has been dismissed from service. Giving information on Thursday (August 17), a railway official said that the order to sack Chetan Chaudhary was issued by the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Monday.
RPF constable Chetan Singh Chowdhary, who shot dead his senior and three passengers in a moving train last month, has been dismissed from service. Giving information on Thursday (August 17), a railway official said that the order to sack Chetan Chaudhary was issued by the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Monday.
According to the official, Chetan Chowdhary was involved in at least three indiscipline-related incidents in the past as well. Chetan, 34, is alleged to have shot dead his senior officer Tikaram Meena and three passengers on the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express near Palghar station on the morning of July 31.
The passengers who lost their lives in the firing include Abdul Kader Mohammed Hussain Bhanpurawala, Syed Saifuddin, and Asghar Abbas Shaikh. All three were traveling in different bogies of the train. Chetan Chowdhary was later arrested by the Government Railway Police. The motive behind this heart-wrenching incident is still not clear.
Accused Chetan Chowdhary first shot and killed RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Tikiram Meena and a passenger in a B5 coach with his service weapon. According to the GRP, he then shot dead another passenger in the train's pantry car and another passenger in the S6 coach. Chetan is currently in judicial custody.
