The retail traders all over the nation have now begun to mobilize against e-commerce and quick commerce firms. Retail trader associations Confederation of All India Traders (CAT), Organized Retail Association, Mobile Retail Association and All India Consumer Product Distributors Federation have planned to organize a national movement against e-commerce and quick commerce starting May 1.

BJP MP and General Secretary of CAT Praveen Khandelwal announced that this week there is going to be a meeting of CAT and other associations where the complete master plan of the movement will be made. Gig workers and transporters will be included with women entrepreneurs in the movement.

Customers will also be made aware about the wrong policies of e-commerce companies. According to the All India Consumer Product Distributors Federation, 10 lakh retail shops have been closed across the country in the last five years due to the arbitrary policies of e-commerce companies. It is estimated that there are 1.25 crore retail shops across the country.

The main allegation of retail traders is that e-commerce companies adopt wrong policies and sell goods at low prices, due to which retailers are unable to compete with them. CAT has also demanded that the government to implement the e-commerce policy as soon as possible. Retail traders have been waiting for the e-commerce policy for the last four years.

The business of e-commerce companies is estimated to reach $ 325 billion by the year 2030. At the same time, the business of quick commerce companies that deliver goods in ten to 30 minutes is also expanding rapidly and by the year 2029, the business of quick commerce companies will reach $ 10 billion. Currently, his business is worth $3.35 billion.
