Tomato prices fell 22% in a month, still Rs 52 per kg
Relief: The Ministry of Consumer Affairs said, the wholesale price of tomato in Delhi's Azadpur Mandi has fallen by 50% to Rs 2,969 per quintal in a month. It was Rs 5,883 on October 14. Prices have also fallen in the markets of Pimpalgaon in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

The price of tomatoes in the retail market has fallen by 22.4% in a month due to increased supply across the country. Tomato which was being sold at Rs 67.50 per kg on October 14 has now come down to Rs 52.35.
The wholesale price in Azadpur Mandi of Delhi has dropped 50% in a month to Rs 2,969 per quintal, according to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. It has come down from Rs 5,883 on October 14. Prices have also dropped in the markets of Pimpalgaon in Maharashtra Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Prices are coming down on account of seasonal arrivals from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat meeting the supply shortage across the country, though arrivals have reduced at major tomato hubs in Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh and Kolar in Karnataka, according to the ministry. Tomato production is pegged at an increase of four percent at 213.20 lakh tonnes. The main sowing season is October and November in major producing states.
Another Onion Express has reached Delhi to control prices in the National Capital Region. About 1,341 tonnes of onions have reached Delhi by a special freight train from Nashik. These were transported directly from the fields to the nearest available railway network.
