RBI Governor Shaktikanta said that common people and institutions can deposit these Rs 2,000 notes by going to the issue office of RBI. Under this, there is a limit of Rs 20,000 for exchange.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta has also talked about the second option. Rs 2,000 notes can be sent to the RBI issue office through the postal department. This money can be deposited only in their bank account in India.
Shaktikanta Das said that till now we have got back more than 96 percent of the Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 3.32 lakh crore. There are still Rs 12,000 crore worth of notes left. 87 percent of Rs 2,000 notes have returned to banks as deposits. The remaining notes have been exchanged for other notes. He said that currently Rs 2000 notes worth about Rs 12 thousand crores are in circulation, which are yet to arrive.
