It may be recalled that during the Kolkata Rape-Murder Case, against which demonstrations were taking place, a video went viral over social media. In this demonstration, one person raised a threat that the daughter of Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee would be raped. The said person has openly declared that whoever does this will get Rs 10 crore as an award.
The West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken cognizance of the viral video on its own. The Commission issued a press release stating that during the demonstration against the RG Kar Medical Hospital rape case, a person announced a reward of Rs 10 crore for whosoever rapes the minor daughter of Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee. WBCPCR said that it was an indecent comment by the person. Its intention is to hurt the dignity of the minor girl and endanger her safety.
The Commission said that if strict action is not taken against the culprits, it will give a wrong message to society. The Commission said that the Commission has strongly condemned this statement and has also demanded police and judicial action. This statement of the man is a violation of the law under POCSO, JJ Act, and UNCRC. Appealing to the police, the commission said that the culprits should be arrested and proper protection should be provided to the minor girl.
