TMC leader spent 1.07 crores received from donations: ED claims – 23 lakhs were given by a close aide of Rahul Gandhi
TMC spokesperson Saket Gokhale is accused of using more than Rs 1.07 crore collected from donations for personal expenses. This amount was raised for social work. Out of this, more than 23 lakh rupees have been given by a close friend of Rahul Gandhi. Enforcement Directorate (ED) has claimed.
The ED had sought his remand from a local court after arresting Gokhale from Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail. Where ED has made these allegations against Gokhale in its remand note given in the court. After this, the court sent Gokhale to ED custody till January 31.
The ED told the court that Gokhale allegedly prepared a fake document in the name of an organization OurDemocracy.in. Then took donations from many people through a company named GiantTreeTech Private Limited. Later the TMC leader spent this money on his personal needs.
According to the ED, Rahul Gandhi's aide Alankar Sawai sent Rs 23.54 lakh to Gokhale's account in a year. Gokhale himself has informed the investigating agency about this. He told that I had helped Sawai in some work related to social media, in lieu of which former banker Sawai has paid Gokhale. Gokhale is the head of Rahul Gandhi's research team.
