Actually, a user asked her how can she watch the film in America. On this, Ada wrote that the film is releasing in theatres across the world on 12th May. Apart from America, The Kerala Story will also be released in UK and France.
On Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a ban on the film in the state. Mamta argued behind this that the film is being banned to prevent any kind of hatred, or violence and to maintain peace in the state. At the same time, the producer of the film Vipul Shah said that if this happens then we will take legal action.
The Kerala Story was released across the cinema halls on 5 May with an A certificate. The film performed brilliantly at the box office taking an opening of around 8 crores. After this, on the basis of mouth publicity, there was a tremendous jump in the collections on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the film made a strong collection of about 11 crores and on Sunday, about 16 crores, together with which the film collected 35 crores nett in the opening weekend.
