Cyber security firm ESET has detected a major flaw in the Telegram Android app; availing of the fact that hackers can hack Telegram at any time. Apart from this, by taking advantage of this flaw, hackers can also send you harmful and damaging files. Information about this vulnerability was received only last month, but the company has come to know about it now.
The report says that the name of this bug is "EvilVideo" and with the help of this, dangerous files are being sent to people. It has a video of just 30 seconds. These bugged files are being shared in Telegram's channel, group, and private chat.
Usually, when we get a video on Telegram, it gets downloaded automatically. ESET has said in its report that this bug is active on the old version of Telegram. If your Telegram app is version 10.14.5 or earlier, then you should update your app immediately.
ESET identified this bug on 26 June 2024 and at the same time Telegram was informed about it, but the company did not take it seriously at that time. This bug has been fixed with Telegram's Android version 10.14.5.
