The New Zealand team has got a direct entry in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025. Following the loss for the Bangladesh women's cricket team against West Indies in the ICC Women's Championship Series match in Basseterre on Friday, the confirmation came through. Both New Zealand and Bangladesh scored 21-21 points in this 10-team competition. Incidentally, New Zealand has made a direct place after winning more matches (9). Whereas, Bangladesh had won 8 matches. Under the ICC Women's Championship, each team has played the total of 8 series, 4 home and 4 in another country.

As the host, India and the next top five teams had booked their berths directly in the World Cup. Australia won with 39 points; India took second place with 37 points. The remaining who got the World Cup slot automatically are England with 32 points, South Africa with 25, and Sri Lanka with 22 points. Now, New Zealand has been placed as the sixth team in that list. The bottom four will get their opportunity in the qualifier tournament.

Bangladesh (21), West Indies (18), Pakistan (17), and Ireland (8) will join the World Cup qualifiers along with the two other highest-ranked teams Scotland and Thailand by 31 October 2024. The schedule of the qualifiers is expected to be announced soon.

The 2025 Women's ODI World Cup will be held in India. This is the fifth time India will host it. Earlier, the last Women's T20 World Cup was held in India in 2016. This time too the format of the World Cup will be the same as in 2022, in which 8 teams will play a total of 31 matches.
