Tata Punch's new record: 1st SUV to sell 1 lakh in 10 months

Tata Motors on Thursday rolled out the 100,000th unit of the punch compact SUV from its manufacturing plant in Pune. This made the Tata Punch the fastest SUV in the country to achieve this feat within just 10 months of launch. This is due to the strong customer demand for the upcoming SUV with a 5-star global NCAP safety rating.
Since its launch in October last year, Tata Punch has consistently featured in the top 10 best-selling cars list in the country. In July this year, the SUV had the highest ever sales with 11,007 units. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited said, "(Punch) is one of the best selling SUVs in our 'New Forever' portfolio. This achievement reflects the overwhelming response from customers.
The Tata Punch compact SUV gets 1.2-litre petrol. This engine generates 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. The SUV gives a mileage of 18.82 kmpl in the manual gearbox and 18.97 kmpl in the AMT transmission.
It comes with features like a 7-inch touchscreen system, digital instrument cluster, automatic headlights, connected car tech, auto AC and cruise control. It gets features like LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, rain-sensing wipers, projector headlamps with auto-fold ORVMs and 16-inch diamond-cut alloys. Talking about other features in Tata Punch, it includes iRA Connected Car Technology with over 25 features, which makes it a complete package for the customers.
The SUV is offered in four variants, which Tata calls its 'personality'. Their names are Pure, Adventure Persona, Accomplished and Creative. It is available in 8 colour options as well as some dual tones exclusively for the top-end Creative trim. The compact SUV competes with the Mahindra KUV100, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Citroen C3 in the micro SUV segment.
