Tamil Nadu: Car and truck collide head-on in Cheyyur, four killed

A horrific road accident took place in Cheyyur taluk of Tamil Nadu on Saturday morning. Here a car and a van collided head-on, killing four people on the spot. At the same time, five have been seriously injured.

According to media reports, there were four passengers in the car. The car's owner Purushothaman and his friends Venkatesan, Gurumurthy, and Poovarasan died on the spot, while another passenger in the car, Raghu, is admitted to the ICU at Chengalpattu Government Hospital and is undergoing treatment.

Officials said that four people traveling in the van, including the driver, were seriously injured and have been admitted to Cheyyur Government Hospital for treatment. Purushothaman, 36, a resident of Madhuranthakam Vannarpet area, was returning home from Chengalpattu Elai Amman temple in his car with his friends when the car collided with the van. According to reports, the van was carrying employees who were working in a private export company operating in the Uthiramerur area of Kancheepuram district.

Cheyyur police recovered the bodies of the deceased and sent them to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for postmortem. Officials said the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
