World number two tennis player Iga Swiatek started a winning campaign in the Australian Open by defeating Czech Republic player Katrina Siniakova in the first-round match on Monday.
Today, four-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek defeated Katrina Siniakova 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets in a match that lasted 81 minutes.
In the next round, Swiatek will face Slovakia's Rebecca Sramkova. After the match, Swiatek said, "Honestly, I like playing in every stadium here. I have played many great matches in John Cain."
Second seed Swiatek led 4-2 and had a 40-0 lead in the first set until Siniakova made another strong comeback but Swiatek came back to break Siniakova and won the opening set in 38 minutes as Siniakova was only two games into the second ahead of Swiatek, the nine-time doubles Grand Slam champion managed to get back on serve.
Another break gave Swiatek the lead once again and this time, she closed out the match in 81 minutes. In the second round, she will face Slovakian 49th-ranked Rebecca Sramkova.
