Rajalakshmi Rama Krishnan, CEO of a technology firm, was hit by a speeding SUV in Mumbai's Worli area on Sunday morning, throwing her 20 feet in the air. Soon after, he was admitted to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The SUV driver was arrested a few hours later.
Police said that the name of the accused driver is Sumer Merchant. A case has been registered against him under section 304 of the IPC. The accused will be produced in court tomorrow i.e. on Tuesday.
It was told that CEO Rajalakshmi and her husband Vijay, a resident of the Dadar-Matunga area, had gone out jogging at around 5 am. Then this incident happened. The incident took place at 6:30 am near Worli Dairy, a few meters away from the Worli-Bandra Sea Link.
The accused driver was going to drop his friends at Shivaji Park. The speed of the car was very fast, due to which the car collided with the divider after hitting the woman. However, the driver was also injured in the accident. Although he has been arrested. He works in a private company and lives in the Tardeo area of Mumbai. At the same time, the police are further investigating the matter.
Rajalakshmi used to go running daily with a group. Recently participated in Tata Mumbai Marathon. She quoted Ronald Roux on her LinkedIn profile after the marathon, "I don't run to add days to my life, I run to add life to my days."
