Supreme Court's big decision in favour of JDA: land worth Rs 300 crore in Vidyadhar Nagar was given to JDA
An order of the Delhi-based Supreme Court has given land worth crores of rupees in the name of Jaipur JDA. This land is near Malhotra Nagar between Vidyadhar Nagar and the VKI area in Jaipur. Taking major action on this land in November last year, the JDA team removed the godowns, offices, shops, slums, houses and rooms built here. After this action, this case was challenged in the Supreme Court, where after the hearing, a three-judge bench gave its verdict in favour of JDA.
After this decision, about 11 bigha 19 biswa land became in the name of JDA. After a long debate in the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court bench of Judges Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Manoj Mishra and Arvind Kumar rejected the appeal of petitioner Chhoturam Meena while ruling in favour of JDA.
Senior advocate Manish Singhvi, who appeared in the Supreme Court on behalf of the JDA and the government, said that the matter was pending in the court for more than 30 years. At the time of settlement in the year 1958, this land was transferred to JDA. In the year 1997, Kaabil Chhote Ram Meena presented a claim on this land in the ADM court, saying that the government had not given compensation and that the land belonged to his grandfather. Since then, the matter continuously reached the Supreme Court i.e. the Supreme Court, on which the final decision was given today.
The present market value of this prized land situated near Vidyadhar Nagar is more than Rs 300 crores. Chhotu Ram Meena and some people had occupied it for the last 25 years and had given it on rent. Many slum huts including 5 big godowns, 6 marble stone godowns, 5 offices, a car service center, and a school were made here for rent. JDA had given notices to vacate all these in October last year. This notice of JDA was challenged by Chhotu Ram Meena in the Supreme Court, from where JDA took action in November and removed the encroachments after not getting the stay.
After getting the land, JDA will now auction them by planning and creating pockets of land for commercial, mixed and residential use. According to sources, JDA is expected to get more than Rs 300 crore from the auction of this land.
