The Supreme Court, on Monday, gave consent to hear the petition filed against the order that acquitted Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh of Dera Sacha Sauda in the murder case of Ranjit Singh.

A division bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi and SC Sharma issued notice to the CBI, Ram Rahim, and four others accused in the case.  The case is liable to come up for a hearing on October 15. Punjab and Haryana High Court had acquitted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in Ranjit Singh's murder case.

Ram Rahim along with the acquittal of four others did it by overturning the sentence given in his case by the special CBI court. In this case, a sentence had already been pronounced by a special court, Panchkula. It too was challenged in the High Court. However, despite acquittal, the final fate of being convicted is in another rape and murder case on the same lines; Ram Rahim did not come out of jail.
