Supreme Court of India is the busiest court in the world
The Supreme Court of India is the busiest court in the world: Chief Justice of Singapore said - this is because of the heavy caseload, and it is necessary to make the justice system modern
Singapore Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon said that the Supreme Court of India is the busiest court in the world. The reason for this is the heavy caseload on the court. Menon attended the 73rd Foundation Day function of the Supreme Court in New Delhi on Saturday as the guest of honour.
In his speech, Menon said that it is necessary to modernize the court process to reduce the caseload and dispense justice easily. He told that not only in India, but all the courts of the world are going through many challenges at this time. There is also a possibility of new legal challenges due to these in future. According to Menon, cases are becoming complex in today's era. The difficulties related to technical and evidence are increasing in them.
On the special occasion of the anniversary of the Supreme Court, Menon also met the President of India, Draupadi Murmu. He shared his views on the role of technology in court and justice for all. This information was given from the official Twitter account of the Singapore Embassy in India.
Many former Chief Justices and judges including Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud were also involved in the program. Chandrachud said- India's first Chief Justice Harilal J. Kania had cleared the role of the Supreme Court in the very beginning. The court will always interpret the constitution and protect constitutional values.
Chandrachud further said – Initially the sanctioned posts of judges in the Supreme Court were 8. Only 5-6 lawyers used to be present during the hearing. Today the sanctioned strength of judges in the court is 34. Not only the courtroom, but even the corridor outside is also full of lawyers. In the last 3 months, the Supreme Court has disposed of 12,471 cases.
