According to the UN human rights office, a total of 87 people, including some from the African tribe, were buried under one meter in a single grave in the city of Darfur. The UN agency issued a statement in Geneva saying 37 bodies had been buried on June 20. However, the very next day another 50 bodies were buried at the same place. Those buried include seven women and seven children.
It may be known that continuous violence is being seen in Sudan since April 15. The tension between the army and the paramilitary forces has escalated into an open battle. Sudan's Darfur city has been the center of conflict for nearly 12 weeks. According to the human rights office, fighters from the army and paramilitary forces have carried out large-scale violence in the western region, forcing many people to flee their homes.
The International Organization for Migration has reported in its recent report that more than 238,000 people have crossed the border from Darfur into neighboring Chad. Entire towns and villages in West Darfur province have been burned and homes looted in the violence.
