Strong demand in the used car market this festive season, 87 percent people showed interest in petrol cars

The auto sector has crossed the mark of 1 million (10 lakh) units in this festive season. Sales of used cars also witnessed an increase during this period. According to data shared by Cars24, used car sales across India have increased by 88% compared to last year.

The share of hatchbacks in total sales in the used car market was 65%. Models like Swift, Baleno, Grand i10, Alto, and Kwid were popular among first-time car buyers, with Maruti Suzuki being the preferred brand. Apart from this, people have also inclined towards SUV cars. Models like Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Ertiga, Creta, and Nexon have seen high demand.
The most expensive car purchased this season was the Ford Endeavour. Silver was the most popular color among car buyers.
The highest car sales were recorded in Bengaluru this festive season. Car sales during Onam in Kochi doubled compared to last year. In Mumbai and Pune, car purchases witnessed double the growth on Ganesh Chaturthi, with WagonR and Honda City leading the way. Ahmedabad and Delhi witnessed a 67% growth in car sales during Navratri, especially the Grand i10 and Baleno.
Cars worth Rs 1,760 crore were sold on Cars24 during the festive season, with Delhi topping the list among metros. The highest number of people selling their cars from metropolitan markets was seen in Lucknow, followed by Pune and Ahmedabad. The Maruti 800 and Zen were the cheapest cars sold on the platform, and at the other end of the spectrum was the Mercedes-Benz E Class.
