Reflections on 'Get Set Grow: My Experience with Business'

Every journey is different—and so are the paths of success and failure. That’s the underlying theme of Get Set Grow, a book that offers a refreshingly realistic perspective on entrepreneurship. As I translated this book from Marathi to English, I found myself deeply engaged in Sachin sir’s honest and grounded exploration of starting up and sustaining a business.

The book doesn’t promise any ultimate truths or guaranteed success formulas, and that’s what makes it unique. Instead, it navigates the startup ecosystem with clarity, detailing the various stages of a business, highlighting practical risks, and offering insights drawn from real-life experiences.

The dark blue cover of the original Marathi book reminded me of the earlier title Udyoginama, but the subtitle “My Experience with Business” stirred my curiosity even more. Upon diving into the contents, I discovered a wealth of soft skills, business fundamentals, and practical advice that any aspiring entrepreneur would find valuable.

Sachin Mohan Chobhe, the author, has boldly shared his twenty-plus years of business experience, including both his successes and failures. What stood out to me the most was the openness with which he talked about the times he failed—something rarely seen in business literature. Unlike the one-sided narratives that glorify only achievements, this book shines because it embraces vulnerability and growth.

As I translated chapter after chapter, I felt I was walking through his journey—from working as a daily wage laborer under the Employment Guarantee Scheme to becoming a professional in the renowned BVG India. The anecdotes are relatable and told in a simple yet engaging tone. He discusses everything—from understanding your own capabilities and selecting the right type of business, to dealing with partnerships, social media, and staying resilient in the face of challenges.

Rather than blaming circumstances or waiting for opportunities, the author advocates a mindset of action and ownership. The writing is peppered with local-to-global references and real-life stories that make every chapter practical and thought-provoking.

As someone who worked closely on translating this book and publishing it via Notion Press, I could sense the strength of lived experience in every page. This isn’t just a guidebook—it’s a grounded, reality-based narrative for anyone who wants to venture into the world of business with clarity, humility, and courage.

I believe Get Set Grow is not only a book for entrepreneurs but also for dreamers who are willing to start from scratch and learn through the process. It’s less of a fantasy and more of a true account—a rare thing in the world of business writing.
