13-year-old Purvansh Patel won Gold for India in the Under 14 Boys Singles category, while his teammate from the same Pickle Ball Academy – PITA, Gujarat – Vivan Patel, won Silver in a very interesting match between the two, amidst sweat & smiles & dual cheering from the entire Indian Contingent.

The same set of gold-winning boys, Purvansh Patel & Vivan Patel, partnered in the Under 14 boys Doubles as well & won Gold, defeating fellow Gujarat Boy – Veer Shah & Rajasthan boy -Aditya Chandrawat, who brought in the Silver for India.

Purvansh Patel teamed with Dev Shah in the Under 18 Doubles category and brought in Silver for India, defeating boys much older than them.

In the Under 18 Boys Singles, the Silver Medal was won by yet another Gujarat boy, the quick-footed Parshva Shah.

Rakshikha Ravi teamed with a much older girl in the Women’s Doubles 19+ open Prize Money Category and brought in the Bronze, making it a medal haul worthy of mention & a feather in the cap of the state of Gujarat itself.

“It amazes me how well our younger generation is taking up Pickle Ball & turning into unstoppable champions. With a little more support from the Gujarat Government in helping us create better infrastructure, thus aiding in the growth of the already fastest growing sport in the world,” says Gujarat State & Indian Pickle Ball Association Vice President – Suryaveer Singh Bhullar.

India’s best Pickle Ball coach – Dhiren Patel, from PITA Ahmedabad, when contacted, says, “I am filled with pride that the children I coach and train every day do so well at the international circuit.”

The Asian Pickleball Open 2023 was held in Phuket, with the support of the Sports Authority of Thailand, & the Tourism Authority of Thailand, between the 14-18th of March 2023.
