Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] July 27 : Joyshree Das Verma, the National President of FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), participated in a meet-and-greet event jointly organised by Ahmedabad and Vadodara FLO chapters in Ahmedabad. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for committee members and FLO members to interact with her one-on-one, facilitating a deeper connection and understanding of FLO’s vision and initiatives.
A visit was also arranged to Anand’s Khandhali village, which was adopted four years ago by then FLO Chairperson Taruna Patel. This visit aimed to reignite and further the progress under Ms Das Verma’s guidance. FLO Ahmedabad is committed to completing the initiatives to transform Khandhali into a model village, showcasing sustainable development and women empowerment.
During the visit, Ms Das Verma witnessed the empowerment of women in the village through the skilling of papad-making, a project initiated by Taruna Patel. As part of the project, a papad-making machine has been installed in the village. In addition, women have been provided the tools to market their products effectively, providing economic opportunities to them.
Kiran Sewani, Chairperson of FLO Ahmedabad, said, “We are immensely grateful to our national president Joyshree Das Verma for visiting Ahmedabad and Khandhali. Under her leadership, we are committed to empowering more women by providing them with the skills and opportunities to thrive. We want to transform Khandhali into a model village and showcase the potential of women-led development, which can subsequently be replicated in other villages.”
FLO Ahmedabad has taken up the task of further empowering more women in Khandhali by helping them expand their market reach and enable them to sell papads on a larger scale. This initiative aligns with FLO’s mission to create a robust support system for women entrepreneurs and reflects its commitment to women empowerment.
