ARCH College Students Drive Innovation at Erasmus+ Co-LIFE Project
Jaipur: Students from ARCH College of Design & Business are making a global impact through the prestigious Erasmus+ Co-LIFE Project, a unique international collaboration bringing together universities from Denmark, India, Belgium, and Finland. The initiative focuses on fostering cross-cultural learning and innovation-driven solutions to real-world challenges. As part of the program, six students from ARCH College, pursuing Masters in Design, embarked on an enriching journey to the Goa Institute of Management (GIM). Their experience was filled with insightful discussions, immersive learning, and hands-on engagement with pressing global issues. One of the significant aspects of the program was a session on menstruation, where students explored diverse cultural perspectives on the topic. The session also emphasized sustainability in menstrual products, highlighting the environmental impact of conventional sanitary pads and exploring sustainable alternatives like bamboo-based biodegradable products. A major highlight of the program was the exploration of cultural diversity, teamwork, and impact-driven innovation. Students participated in thought-provoking activities such as creating mood boards to understand how culture influences behavior and creativity. They also engaged in field visits, where they examined real-world challenges faced by communities and businesses, brainstorming innovative solutions to address societal and environmental issues. These experiences helped them develop a deeper understanding of design thinking and its applications in problem-solving. On another significant day, students actively participated in the International Roundtable Conference on sustainability, where they engaged in meaningful discussions on pressing environmental and economic challenges. They also took part in a hands-on Design Thinking & Learning by Doing (LbD) Workshop, which provided them with a structured approach to ideation, collaboration, and innovation. Through these sessions, students refined their problem-solving abilities and gained valuable insights into sustainable entrepreneurship. Students also had the unique opportunity to visit Sahakari Spice Farm, a 130-acre plantation maintained by five generations of farmers. This experience provided them with a deeper appreciation for the cultivation and significance of various spices in both culinary and traditional medicine practices. Learning about the intricate farming techniques and the cultural heritage associated with spice production offered a holistic perspective on sustainability and agriculture. Throughout the program, students worked on real-world challenges, including analyzing water contamination issues faced by communities. They collaborated to develop innovative solutions, focusing on raising awareness among government officials and designing data-driven frameworks to highlight the urgency of addressing water-related concerns. The culmination of the project saw the students presenting their research findings and proposed solutions, showcasing their ability to apply design thinking to critical societal issues. The Erasmus+ Co-LIFE Project exemplifies ARCH College’s commitment to experiential and global learning. By providing platforms that encourage international collaboration and problem-solving, ARCH ensures that its students gain the knowledge, skills, and perspectives necessary to become future leaders in design and entrepreneurship. The opportunity to engage with experts, interact with global peers, and apply their learning to real-world contexts has empowered the students, preparing them for impactful careers ahead. Speaking about the significance of such global initiatives, ARCH College of Design & Business Founder & Director Archana Surana said, “At ARCH, we believe in experiential learning that goes beyond classroom boundaries. The Erasmus+ Co-LIFE Project is a remarkable opportunity for our students to engage in international collaboration, enhance their entrepreneurial thinking, and contribute meaningfully to global challenges. It is inspiring to see them apply their creativity and skills in impactful ways.” As the Erasmus+ Co-LIFE Project progresses, students continue to immerse themselves in real-world problem-solving, gaining a broader perspective on global entrepreneurship and sustainability. The experience is shaping them into future leaders who will drive meaningful change in society.
