India batsman Smriti Mandhana will play in the Women's Big Bash League 2024 after a two-year gap. The South Eastern became the first Indian to sign a WBBL pre-draft overseas contract. The 28-year-old joined Adelaide Strikers, having won the last two editions, and will be eager to win a third consecutive title. The Adelaide team will be Mandhana's fourth team in the WBBL. She had played for Hobart Hurricanes, Brisbane Heat, and Melbourne Renegades prior to this. She is set to be drafted on 1 September 2024.

Mandhana said: I am always excited to play in Australia, and I am really looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to a team with such a great history as the Strikers. I really look forward to continuing to work with Luke, having already had two really helpful experiences, and looking forward to making it even better.

Mandhana's record in the Women's Big Bash League is colossal. She has scored 784 runs in 38 matches at an average of 24.50. Mandhana will lighten that job because she will be working under the supervision of Luke Williams. Williams is the coach appointed by RCB in the WPL series.

Luke Williams said that Smriti is an exceptional talent and we are thrilled to welcome her to the Strikers. Her technical skills, experience, and strategic insight are a tremendous asset to us. I already know her dedication and energy in the team and on the field. Her expertise and leadership will be invaluable for success in the upcoming season.
