Smart India Hackathon 2023 grand finale inaugurated today, PM Modi will interact with students
Smart India Hackathon 2023: This year the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon is being organized from 19 to 23 December. SIH 2023 received over 50,000 ideas from 44,000 teams, representing almost a seven-fold increase compared to the first SIH. Since its launch in 2017, the scope of the Smart India Hackathon has been expanding with each passing year.
PM Narendra Modi will interact with the participants of the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2023 via video conferencing on 19 December 2023 at 9:30 pm. The PM will also address the participants.
Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative of the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education, providing a platform for students to solve pressing problems of the government, ministries, departments, industries, and other organizations. SIH has been acclaimed as the world's largest open innovation model and develops a culture of product innovation and problem-solving among students.
SIH for higher education students has been conducted every year since 2017 in two formats i.e. SIH Software and SIH Hardware editions. Last year in 2022, Smart India Hackathon – Junior was also launched for school students to build a culture of innovation and problem-solving approach at the school level.
This year the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon is being organized from 19 to 23 December. In SIH 2023, more than 50,000 ideas were received from 44,000 teams, marking an almost seven-fold increase compared to the first SIH.
Since its launch in 2017, the scope of the Smart India Hackathon has been expanding with each passing year. The increased enthusiasm among the participating students and problem statement-providing organizations can be seen in their increasing participation over the years. SIH is impacting millions of students every year and provides them with a national platform to test their academic learning in real-world problem-solving. It also aligns their interest towards innovation and entrepreneurship.
More than 12,000 participants and more than 2500 advisors/mentors will participate in the grand finale to be organized at 48 nodal centers across the country. A total of 1282 teams have been selected for the grand finale this year to provide solutions on various themes including space technology, smart education, disaster management, robotics and drones, heritage, and culture.
The Smart India Hackathon 2023 grand finale will be inaugurated at the Manipal Institute of Technology. Manipal Institute of Technology was selected as a nodal center for the Smart India Hackathon – Hardware Edition.
