It would be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine in the model that will enter the Indian markets, although the results of these Euro NCAP tests will definitely have some bearing on the final model that enters the territory. Safety features on the Kodiaq tested include 6 airbags, seatbelt reminder with pre-tensioners for all seats, ISOFIX mounts on the front and rear seats, and ADAS.

In the frontal offset test, the dummy provided good safety for the driver's and passenger's knees and femurs. Additionally, good protection in all body areas is provided. Some 'falls' of the deformable impact barrier were noticed, and a penalty was imposed. Good protection in all critical body areas of the driver and rear passenger was ensured in the barrier test. Tests on the front seats and head restraints showed good protection from whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-impact accident.

In both the frontal offset test and the side barrier test, all critical body areas of the child dummy were well protected. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. The Kodiaq does not have a seatbelt reminder for the front passenger seat.
