The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is soon going to launch the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. Simultaneously, the exercise to increase the pace of skill training and employment has again intensified. In this direction, the Management-Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council (MEPSC) working under the ministry is going to conduct a skill gap study for technical and professional workers.

It is known that MEPSC works to prepare technical and professional workers. This unit of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship aims to train 4.75 lakh youth in the next ten years in the prescribed fifty competencies. Along with this, 550 trainers are also to be prepared.

To take this work forward, the council has decided to conduct a skill gap study, so that youth can be trained and sent for employment according to demand in the country and abroad. With this objective, Request for Proposal (RFP) has been invited recently. This study is specifically to be done in the areas of office management and professional skills, training and assessment skills, non-teaching jobs in the education sector, entrepreneurship, and private security.

For this study, it has been decided that by talking to at least one thousand youth, their expectations will be understood in detail. Similarly, consultations and workshops will be organized with at least 500 industry groups or organizations. The process of this suggestion and consultation will divide the country into five parts East, West, North, South, and Central.

Through the study, there is also an attempt to assess what will be the requirement and availability of sector-wise manpower from 2023 to 2030. Such suggestions have also been expected from the surveying agency, on the basis of which an action plan can be prepared for the next five years. The ministry wants to complete this study in the next four to five months.
