Singapore Supreme Court judge Judith Prakash joins the constitution bench, will hear this case
Supreme Court: Welcoming Justice Judith Prakash on Wednesday, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that a few months ago, Chief Justice of Singapore Sundaresh Menon was with us and Justice Judith Prakash is among us.
Singapore Supreme Court Judge Judith Prakash was on Wednesday included in the nine-judge Constitution bench of the Indian Supreme Court. This bench of nine judges, headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, is hearing the case on whether the royalty charged by the Central Government on mineral mining can be considered a tax or not.
As a guest judge, Justice Judith Prakash has joined the Constitution bench. It is Judith Prakash who is in India for the Delhi Arbitration Weekend. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud welcomed Justice Judith Prakash on Wednesday, stating that Justice Judith Prakash was present and that Chief Justice of Singapore Sundaresh Menon had been with them a few months prior. She is here to take part in Delhi Arbitration Week, giving a speech. Justice Judith Prakash was also greeted by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and senior attorney Harish Salve, who is representing the mining royalty case. Delhi's International Arbitration Centre will host the second Delhi Arbitration Week from March 6–10.
