Sikh youth assaulted in Rajapark: Angry people jammed Govind Marg, cleared the way on the arrival of DCP, will be arrested soon
Some youths beat up a young man running a tea stall in Rajapark AC Market. During this, Sardar Harpreet Singh, a resident of Guru Nanak Pura, got fractured his hand. Upon getting information about the incident, the people of the Sikh community took to the streets. In no time, the matter went on becoming fierce. The crowd blocked Govind Marg. On getting the information Jawahar Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, and Transport Nagar police stations reached the spot. An appeal was made by the police to maintain peace and order in Raja Park. People got up from the streets after DCP East Rajeev Pachar reached the spot and explained. The police assured them that the miscreants would be arrested soon.
Injured youth Sardar Harpreet Singh told that he was making tea at the shop. During this, some young men came to the shop and asked to have tea, and I started making tea. These young men were hurling dirty abuses over there. When I was stopped from abusing them, this youth got enraged. Then he started quarrelling with Harpreet on this issue. During this, Harpreet's hand got fractured. On Harpreet's shout, the nearby Sikh youths reached the spot, but till then these miscreants escaped from the spot.
Jawahar Nagar CI Pannalal told that shops of tea and other things remain open till late at night in the market. Many types of people come here. The shop was open even late at night, during which some youths had a fight with Har Preet. In which Harpreet got hurt. His medical will be done. A case has been registered against unknown youths and an investigation has been started. A team has been put to work on CCTV.
