Siddique, a Malayalam director, experiences cardiac arrest and is given life support

Siddique, the creator, and director of a number of well-known comedies in Malayalam cinema, experienced a heart arrest on August 6 while receiving treatment for pneumonia and respiratory issues at a private hospital in Kochi, where he had been confined since July 10. His condition is still critical and he is currently on life support in the intensive care unit.
Siddique, a 60-year-old native of Kerala's Kochi, started his career at the mimicry group run by Kalabhavan, a renowned center for performing arts, like many other performers in Malayalam cinema. He entered the film industry in the latter half of the 1980s alongside his buddy and coworker Lal to pen comedies with a melancholic undertone.
They started making films in the late 1980s. Siddique and Lal produced a series of well-liked comedies for Malayalam cinema, including Ramji Rao Speaking, In Harihar Nagar, and Godfather. Although these films have held up well over time, their later films, such as Vietnam Colony and Kabooliwala, did not have the same level of popularity as the earlier ones.
The two directors made the decision to part ways in 1996. Lal began acting while Siddique continued to write and direct films. Comedy films like Friends (which was remade in Tamil) were created by Siddique. In Tamil with Vijay and in Hindi with Salman Khan, his film Bodyguard was remade. Bhaskar the Rascal, a Mammootty film with Arvind Swamy, was another remake. He also produced the Telugu movie Maaro. The most recent Malayalam film that Siddique produced with Mohanlal and Mammootty was Big Brother, which was released three years ago.
