Shubhangi Atre, Aka Angoori Bhabhi of 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai,' Confirms She's Officially Single!
Shubhangi Atre, known for her role as Angoori Bhabhi in Sanjay and Binaiferr Kohli's Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, has been a beloved face in the television industry for years. While she has entertained audiences with her comic timing, her personal life has seen significant changes. After 22 years of marriage, she and her husband, Piyush Poorey, decided to part ways. Their divorce was finalized on February 5, bringing closure to a long chapter in her life.Shubhangi admits that the decision was painful, as she was deeply invested in the relationship. “I gave my heart to this marriage because that’s the kind of person I am,” she shares. However, over time, differences grew between them, making it impossible to continue together. Now, after moving on, she feels a sense of peace. “It feels like a heavy weight has been lifted. There’s a newfound sense of freedom, and it’s hard to explain how relieving that is,” she says. Her priority now is to focus on her daughter, Ashi, and give her a happy and secure life. One of the biggest lessons she has learned from this experience is self-reliance. “I’ve realized that you should never depend on someone else for your happiness. If you keep waiting for others to fulfill your needs, time will pass, and in the end, all you’ll have is regret,” she says. According to her, happiness comes from within, and when you’re truly content, the people around you feel that positive energy too.Despite the separation, Shubhangi has ensured that Ashi’s relationship with her father remains unaffected. “It’s completely her choice if she wants to meet her father. I will never stop her. Our separation was done respectfully, and we remain cordial. I have taken full responsibility for her education and everything else. I have never asked my husband or his family for anything,” she explains. Although her marriage has ended, Shubhangi has not lost faith in love. “I have seen a successful marriage—my parents have been together for over 50 years. Love is timeless, and as human beings, we all need someone. In my life, that someone is my daughter, my family, and my wonderful friends. They are my strength,” she says.As for love, she’s in no hurry. “Right now, I’m not looking for a relationship. Coming out of one has already been difficult, and I don’t want to force anything. I don’t even know if I could trust someone again so soon. For now, I’m just enjoying my own company and going with the flow,” she says. On the professional front, Shubhangi is excited about the film adaptation of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. Having played Angoori Bhabhi for nine years, she still finds joy in the role. “I don’t think I could ever get bored of playing Angoori Bhabhi. It allows me to explore comedy and dance, which I love just as much as acting. Now that the show is becoming a movie, I’m really looking forward to it,” she shares.
